At The Green Man in Hurst, we bring together the best of traditional British pub food with a little South African flair. From hearty pub classics and leisurely lunches to something a little different, our menus are full of comforting favourites and flavours worth discovering.
Enjoy everything from Brakspear beer-battered fish and chips and homemade pies to South African specialities including Bobotie, Boerewors and traditional Malva Pudding. There's something for everyone, including a dedicated children's menu and all the trimmings of a proper Sunday roast.

The Chequers is a relaxed, welcoming place for all ages. Families are very much at home here, with a children’s menu full of familiar, well-loved dishes, along with highchairs, games and drawing materials to help younger guests settle in. Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the bar area.
Vegetarian options are available across the menu, and we’re always happy to cater for vegan diets or other dietary requirements – just let us know when booking.

Behind the bar you’ll find a carefully chosen range of cask-conditioned ales from local breweries, alongside rotating guest beers and a selection of bottled beers and lagers.
Our wine list brings together old and new world bottles, with options available by the glass and by the bottle - from easy-drinking favourites to something a little more special. We also serve a seasonal selection of cocktails and mocktails, mixing classic serves with a few house favourites.
